400T downproof nylon fabric CC-1508 is developed for insulated products where the shell or lining should contribute as little weight as possible. At only 36 GSM, it creates a light protective layer around down or synthetic insulation without making a packable jacket feel unnecessarily bulky. The fabric is woven from 100% nylon using fine 20D × 20D yarns in a compact plain-weave construction. Matte nylon gives it a more restrained appearance than bright filament shells, while water-repellent and calendered downproof finishing prepare the material for lightweight padded garments, sleeping bags and insulated accessories. A successful insulated garment needs more than warm filling. Its surrounding fabric must help contain fine fibres, accept quilting stitches and remain comfortable when worn close to other layers. The 400T construction creates a fine, closely woven surface. Calendering further compresses the fabric between heated rollers, reducing the spaces through which down or synthetic fibres may escape. This allows CC-1508 to remain extremely light while supporting the containment requirements of packable insulated products.
